1. 4 Gats Barcelona - Piet (28 Apr 2012 - 10:30)

   A perfect evening at 4 Gats. Well paid Spanish servants, secured a Fantastic well tasting meal, with exellent service. The head waiter satisfied our request for a less oaked Spanish wine, and the meat was exuisit! The combination of tasty food, ambience, reasonable pricing and smiling service will definitely lead us back to this restaurant.

   Beautiful place - one of the best in Barcelona for me. Go at a quiet time and just enjoy the atmosphere. Food may be expensive but you are paying for the ambience.

   Mi esposa y yo visitamos ayer el lugar y nos sorprendimos de la forma despectiva y despota en la que fuimos tratados, ya que a pesar de tener dos mesas vacias nos dijeron que no tenian lugar y no nos podian atender, lo unico que queriamos era comprar un articulo de recuerdo y ni eso se dignaron a responder. Si les pesa tanto atender a la clientela, cierren el lugar y dediquense a otra cosa. Lo unico que vale de los 4 gatos es su historia (muy antigua) y si te gustan los felinos el nombre.

   The building and its history are well known and fantastic. The food was good, but not exceptional. The service was exceptionally bad. If you are a tourist, expect to be treated as such.
   
   first, they got snooty with us because we ordered red wine and some of us ordered fish (shame on us). when the food arrived, it was thrown in front of us. when they took the empty red wine bottle, they ran off making sure not to allow us the opportunity to order another bottle.
   This place obviously sees a lot of tourists and they want to turn the tables over several times a night, which is fine for lesser restaurants, but I expected more for the prices this place charged.
   Lastly, the low point was when they brought us the check and they charged us 8 euros for bread (4 rolls). Laughable. so much for their gratuity....

   I DID ADD A COMMENT BUT IT'S NOT POSTED!
   I'm from barcelona, it's a nice place, it has a special meaning, and the waiters might be asian, and so what?? If a restaurant is full to the top, things are not going to be perfect, at least for that price.
   
   It's your decision, I send there office dinners, and people is happy. I don't understand what this web page is doing? Do you hate Barcelona or what?

   I'm from Barcelona, and I must say, that the people from Bacelona like this place, like the food and likes what it means.
   
   You should know that the food is good, it might not be the best in the world but its very nice, at least from my point of view.
   The restaurant has also a speciall meaning, it was the place where all the wise men from the modernist time used to meet and chat about how they saw the world. Pablo Picaso used to go there with Matisse, so... come on, are you really going to see his museum but you are not going to one of the most emblematic restaurants in Barcelona? I repeat, I like the food and strongly recomend the 3 colour mouss.
   
   I'm really upset to see that the page Barcelona.com recommends to strongly avoid it, and can't understand why.
   
   Now its just your choise.

   Being in Barcelona was fantastic and for me this restaurant would have been like an wonderfull dream... sorry but, It was the opposite ! I passed my time to try to forget the rude waiters and the horrible and expensive food I was supposed to eat (the worst one I have had in Spain!). What a pity ! An advice : just enter, take a seat, order a beer or a coffee, do not try to speak with the people here, cause the place is great, full of histories and at last pray, pray, maybe a new team will manage the 4 Gats !

   We had an awful experience. The ambience was good, but the service and the food was very disappoiting. The server brought in the wrong order, then the food was cold. the waiter appologizaed, but did nothing about it. Then when my husband ordered a brandy they charged him 35 euros for it.(we just ordered a galss, not the whole bottle!!) We have asked other restaurants and they charge about 6 to 8 euros a glass. I certainly do not recommend it.

   Went to quatre cats on a recommendation from friends. We were really looking forward to the food but it turned out to be a disaster! No wine list, the waiter was ignorant for a start.... and then came the food! shared canneloni for a starter which was average at best. Ordered steak and sea bass for dinner. The streak was freezing and completely raw on the inside while the sea bass was tasteless. It took 10 minutes to get a waiters attention and let him know about the food. He took it away and I expected a replacement but all that was done was the steak was put on the pan for a few minutes and given back to me warm (the potatoes were burnt in the process!) but still raw on the inside. Needless to say it was left behind. We couldnt get out of there quick enough. Do NOT eat here, crap food, very expensive and poor service.

    Ate there in 6/10. Never again. Terrible service, mediocre food. Such a beautiful building with such interesting history, but all else is unremarkable.

    Si Picasso peut voir ce restaurant qu'il fréquentait régulièrement, il doit se retourner dans sa tombe. Un cadre sympatique mais c'est tout. des serveurs d'une impolitesse à la limlite de leur mettre une tarte dans la gu....... Le service expédié, et si vous demandez des glaçons où des lingettes ca les agace vraiment, mais vraiment. Une usine.Question menu, rien à retenir. Et pour couronner le tout, j'oublie mon iphone sur la table, même pas arrivé à la porte, je retourne le chercher, plus de téléphonne. Pourtant le plateau avec le pourboire qui se trouvait à coté avait été lui relevé. Alors ????????????????? Etablissement à éviter absolument. Il y en a tellement d'autres vraiment super. Exemple: le Boti Fumeira

    Nous aurions dû vous écoutez, mais bon. Mardi 14 septembre 2010, réservation à 20hres pour 4 personnes. À notre arrivée, service très rapide (trop), serveurs à la gueule de bois (aucun sourire durant tout le repas), personnel qui semble détestez leur job. Nous avions de la difficulté à garder nos assiettes tant ils étaient pressés de déservir la table. Coté bouffe, 2 assiètes principales sur 4 étaient décevantes. Un steak commandé medium arrive cuisson rare (bleu) et une assiette de bajou de porc braisé immangeable tellement elle était coriace. Et que dire du pain. 4 petits morceaux un peu plus gros qu' une balle de golf aux prix de 8 euros. À otre sortie, nous exprimons nos commentaires au gérant qui nous envoie quasiment paître. Ma recommandation: 1er sur la SHIT LIST

    resto avec personnel mal élevé, lancement des couverts qui arrivent sur la table dans le sens contraire, personnel antipathique, bouffe dégueulasse, rien a apprécier
    o devrait fermer cet établissement une honte pour barcelone j'ai 46 ans et je n'ai jamais vu ça de ma vie......................

    mars 2009 je rentre de Barcelone ou nous sommes allés manger au 4 gatos personne exécrable service abominable... ils lancaient les couverts m'ont servi du vin dans mon ancien verre d'apéro la bouffe était dégueulasse on mange mieux ds un resto route je n'ai jamais vu ça de ma vie ils peuvent bien fermer les gens à coté de nous mangeaint une viande carboniséée et n'osaient rien dire non plus n'y allez jamais piège pour touristes......

    The service was great, and the food was amazing! One of the best resturates I've ever been to:) And the two old men playing the piano and violin was adorebal!

    I was recommended this restaurant. I booked for my husbands birthday. IT was an atrocious meal. The food was bland and over cooked. Service was poor. Only redeeming feature was the building. Avoid this place

    Siamo stati al 4 gatti io e mio marito prima nel pomeriggio per un te e poi a pranzo l'indomani. Abbiamo mangiato benissimo il servizio e eccellente e vi dirò che tutto sommato neanche il prezzo era così caro poichè a barcellona ce ne sono di pi cari. Dimenticavo ho mangiato una tarte de manzana ottima. Provatela e poi il posto è bellissimo.

    il pomeriggio ho prenotato per la sera, siamo stati serviti subito e abbiamo mangiato molto bene (baccala'), e il servizio e' stato impeccabile. da provare !

    4 gatos son los que volveran ahi, nosotros no... Servicio mediocre, ambiente de comedor de barrio obrero con musico frustrado de fondo, la comida... bueno, 4 gatos? o comida para gatos? Ademas la carta es demasiada cara. En fin, el sitio tiene mucho encanto, pero mejor vayan a tomar un refresco (no os recomiendo el cafe).

    Cela fait plus de 15 ans que je vais régulièrement dans ce restaurant et je n'y ai jamais croisé de musiciens...D'ailleurs dans le brouhaha ambiant, ils auraient bien du mal à se faire entendre.
    
    15 ans que je savoure leurs plats et leur menu à des prix plus qu'abordables...
    
    Les serveurs ont toujours été très agréables, accueillants et d'une politesse absolue. Je garde un très bon souvenir de la péëlla aux légumes.
    
    Les menus sont en catalan, mais aussi en castellan, ce qui est de plus en plus rare dans cette grande ville et plutôt apréciable.
    
    Une ambiance certes très bruyante, mais le lieux vaut le détour. A essayer....
